We are seeking a full time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our experienced assistive technology team and provide AAC evaluations and training to adults and children. This position is a critical team member to integrate AAC within our established adult neuro-rehab programs here at Ability KC, and with our outside referral partners. Professional growth, flexibility, and creativity in program development is encouraged in this opportunity by working with a variety of individuals and their families.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s degree Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited school required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with AAC is required.
- A broad understanding and clinical reasoning in neuro rehabilitation is desired.
- One year hospital/health related or assistive technology experience is preferred.
License/Certification:
- Missouri and Kansas License.
- Possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Must possess knowledge of the principles, practice of Speech-Language Pathology and the ability to apply them in therapeutic treatment programs.
- Ability to create clear and concise written and oral reports.
- Understand and abide by the established code of ethics for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology.
- Ability to maintain patient and facility confidentiality.
- Specialized training in augmentative and alternative communication if providing services to individuals in the Adaptive Computer and Communication Technology Program.
- Ongoing education in the area of assistive technology as it relates to augmentative communication, learning tools and computer access.
- Ability to educate internal stakeholders in assistive technology through conference exhibits, presentations and in-services.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
