Non-Profit Medical Rehab Facility seeking a Full-Time Accounting Manager.

Under the leadership of the CFO, the Accounting Manager will manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll. Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. Accounting Manager will guide implementation of new financial initiatives and perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested. Accounting Manager will research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP.) Accounting Manager will analyze revenue cycle function and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and effectiveness of revenue cycle processes. Accounting Manager will participate in the review and negotiation of third-party payor contracts. Accounting Manager will coordinate the annual budget process. Accounting Manager will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising accounting staff. Accounting Manager will also monitor emerging technology to determine ways to improve efficiencies within the accounting department.

  • Develops accounting organizational strategies and objectives which are in line with organizational strategic plan and objectives. This will be accomplished by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and directions.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls throughout the organization.
    Work with CFO and other senior management executives to improve financial reporting and develop more efficient workflow processes.
  • Monitors data integrity and reports potential issues to the CFO in a timely manner. Includes confirming financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  • Compiles and prepares various status reports for management in order to analyze trends and make recommendations.
  • Provides guidance to other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Ensures that all processes in the revenue cycle are in compliance with HIPAA and third-party payor regulations.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by understanding current and proposed legislation, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Maintains sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations.
  • Accomplishes departmental human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining direct-report staff.
  • Actively participates in staff development and assessments to support industry best practice.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of healthcare accounting or office management experience.
  • Two or more years of work experience as Accounting Manager or Finance Manager

Knowledge/Skills/Licensure/Certification:

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) – Preferred
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
  • Systematic approach to problem solving for all types of issues
  • Strong skills in fostering working relationships
  • Detail oriented; organized; sets priorities; meets deadlines
  • Superior data management and data analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles
  • Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Effective, clear, and persuasive oral and written communication skills with individuals and groups
  • Employee will promote and adhere to the Compliance Plan as defined by Ability KC
