Ability KC Summer Programming Internship Program

The Pediatric and Adolescent Program at Ability KC is pleased to offer an internship program to support our summer programs.  This internship will allow individuals to have hands-on experience working with children and/or adolescents with disabilities as guided by a licensed therapist.  The interns will be able to gain exposure to the therapeutic process and experience a multidisciplinary team.  Additionally, opportunities to learn about a variety of community resources and gain exposure to other organizations throughout the Kansas City area will be available. Each intern will be expected to design and implement a therapeutic intervention for the group with close guidance from the lead therapist.  Individuals interested in this opportunity will need to be able to commit to 5 days per week for the duration of the summer programs (3 or 4 weeks) as well as attending a mandatory orientation.  Applications will be open January 23 and will close March 3.  Interviews will take place in mid-March, either via Zoom or in person.

Preferred applicant characteristics:

  • Responsible
  • Trustworthy
  • Self-starter
  • Flexible
  • Problem Solver
