This Program Social Worker (SW) is assigned to our therapeutic preschool. The Program SW provides to the program participant/legal guardian an orientation to program services and policies, completes psychosocial assessment, serve as liaison between therapeutic preschool team and participant/legal guardian in providing updates on progress, projected discharge date for medical program services, identify and refer to appropriate community resources, provide support and education to patient/legal guardian, consultant regarding mandated reporting guidelines, intra-agency liaison relating to care, provides in-services to teams at Ability KC related to social services as requested, follows agency regulatory guidelines for social work services, serves as backup SW to other SW staff upon request of supervisor, and performs other duties as assigned. This position is part-time and only scheduled for 20 hours per week.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Social Worker and Licensed in Missouri as LBSW; or Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution and Licensed as LMSW in Missouri.
  • Licensed MSW is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year relevant direct care social service clinical experience.
  • One year experience providing social work services in a medical/rehabilitation for medical programs or school setting preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Licensure/Certification:

  • Knowledge of community resources in transportation, housing, health care access, financial assistance and relevant resources to the population served.
  • Knowledgeable in family dynamics and issues related to adjustment to disability.
  • Strong skills in time management, prioritization, punctuality, rapport building, team collaboration, and strong communication skills is required.
  • Basic computer skills required include use of Word and Excel.
