People We Serve
Children
Ability KC offers pediatric disability services for young children suffering from both congenital and acquired disabilities, while also working closely with their families. Services include our outpatient medical rehabilitation program, therapeutic preschool, summer programming, and much more.
Adolescents
Adolescent teens and young adults have needs that differ from those of younger children, and Ability KC offers a number of unique services to help them as they transition and prepare for adulthood.
Adults
A broad range of adult outpatient medical rehabilitation services are available through Ability KC, including traditional outpatient therapy services and our Adult Day Hospital Program. All of our care plans are tailored to the individual’s unique needs and goals and can include intensive rehab, goal-based group therapies, and interest-based services.
Seniors
Senior services at Ability KC take a comprehensive approach to support aging adults—helping them remain actively engaged in both their personal and professional lives as well as within their communities.

Our Process
Our intake process for outpatient medical rehabilitation or therapeutic preschool starts by getting in touch with a Case Manager for a referral. While there are no restrictions when it comes to acceptance, individuals must have a developmental disability or an illness, injury, or intervention that has impacted daily routines and developmental milestones. Our team will make every effort to meet the needs of the individual and their support system, regardless of their:
- Geographic location
- Age
- Sex
- Race
- Culture
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity
- Or financial status
Refer a Patient to Ability KC
Referrals Ability KC programs can be made directly by family members, physicians, school personnel, and others in the community. Referrals are initiated by contacting the admissions department, community liaisons, or case managers.
Financing
Our team will work diligently to ensure that cost is never a barrier to receiving care at Ability KC. We’ll work with individuals and families to find financing options regardless of their financial status.
