FAQ’s
Q: How can I leave a question or message for my treatment team, or cancel an appointment?
A: For medical concerns, please contact your physician directly. For emergency care, call 911.
- To leave a message for a specific program:
- Adult Day Rehab Program: Call 816-751-7795
- Pediatric/Adolescent Program: Call 816-751-7710
- For immediate referrals or admission needs, please call 816-751-7783. Messages on this line will be checked intermittently.
If you are a current patient:
- To report future cancellations, please call 816-751-7701.
- For specific questions about your therapy care, please email or call your treatment team directly. Messages will be returned starting January 2, 2025.
Q: Is Hanger scheduled for regular appointments?
A: Yes, Hanger is operating on a regular schedule. Please enter through the ground floor entrance at 3010 Main Street.
Q: How can I make a new referral, and will the referral be process timely?
A: Yes, Ability KC will have personnel available to continue to process referrals when our organization is observing the holiday.
Department Instructions
ADMISSIONS/REFERRALS FOR ADULT AND PEDIATRIC MEDICAL REHAB
The Admissions Team and our Community Liaisons will be checking our fax line (816-751-7984) and phone (816-751-7783) daily except on December 25th and Jan 1st. For day program, pediatric and urgent needs, one of our Community Liaisons will follow up with you directly; all other calls will be returned on Thursday, January 2nd.
ADAPTIVE COMPUTER AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ACCT)
For time-sensitive patient referrals or questions, please contact our admissions team at (816) 751-7783. For cancellations the week of our return to services, please call (816) 751-7950.
To make a referral, please complete the Intake form, and a member of our team will follow up with you as soon as we return from the break.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGY
Staff will be monitoring voicemails throughout the break. For any urgent requests, please send in prior to December 23rd. Please contact Sam Lemon with any questions P: 816-751-7881 and F: 816-751-7984.
DRIVING
For assistance, please leave a message with the Driving Admissions Coordinator at (816) -751- 7782 or driving@abilitykc.org for evaluations and training. For specific questions for our driving specialists, please call or email them directly and we will return your calls once we return from break on January 2nd, 2025.
MARY SHAW BRANTON THERAPEUTIC PRESCHOOL
For urgent needs or questions, please use the main line at 816-756-0780. Admin team members of the Therapeutic Preschool will have periodic access to their phones and email and will check them as needed.
MEDICAL RECORDS
For medical record copy inquiries, fax your request to 816-751-7869. Your request will be fulfilled after we return.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
Employment Services staff will be communicating with their clients prior to closure on how to reach employment staff during the break in case of an urgent employment support need. For additional and/or immediate or urgent assistance with your employment needs during the break, please contact your Employment Services staff member on their cell. All non-urgent emails, voicemails and texts will be returned when services at Ability KC resume on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.
BUILDING
Security as well as several departments will be on staff during the Winter Break.
