Non-Profit Medical Rehab Facility seeking a Staff Occupational Therapists FT for our Adult Medical Rehab team.

Job Overview:

Under the general direction of the Supervisor performs patient care-related tasks.

  • Responsible for assessment and treatment of daily living activities including self-care, assistive devices as well as a strong emphasis on feeding and related oral motor skills, oral aversion and defensiveness.
  • Addresses fine motor skills including motor control, pre-writing, handwriting, and bilateral integration.
  • Addresses visual skills including visual perception, visual motor, eye-hand coordination, and ocular motility.
  • Evaluates and treats sensory processing skills in the areas of self-regulation, attention, body awareness, sensory defensiveness, and praxis.
  • Family/primary caregiver training and education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school required.

Experience: Required, Prior Hospital or Neuro-Rehab experience preferred.

 

  • Prior hospital or neuro-rehab experience preferred.

Physical/Environmental/Other

  • Ability to work comfortably in a variety of positions including seated on the floor.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds

Knowledge/Skills/Licensure/Certification:

  • Appropriate state license or license eligible
  • Flexibility with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required
  • Able to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines
  • Able to apply new skills/information to existing practices
  • Able to consistently meet billable unit expectations
  • Able to complete required documentation within established timeframes-Word processing experience preferred
  • Able to work with families from a variety of ethnic, cultural, linguistics, social economic and religious backgrounds
  • CPR certification or eligible

Routine Contacts:

Routine contacts include facility staff, physicians, patients, case managers, students, visitors, physician office staff, patient’s family members/support system, insurance companies, employers, community organizations, and equipment/supply vendors.
This position shall have access only to patient or client Protected Health Information on a need-to-know basis (only that Protected Health Information that is required to perform the job duties described in this job description).
