JOB OVERVIEW:

· Responsible for assessment and treatment of daily living activities including self-care, assistive devices as well as a strong emphasis on feeding and related oral motor skills, oral aversion and defensiveness.

· Addresses fine motor skills including motor control, pre-writing, handwriting and bilateral integration.

· Addresses visual skills including visual perception, visual motor, eye hand coordination, and ocular motility.

· Evaluates and treats sensory processing skills in the areas of self-regulation, attention, body awareness, sensory defensiveness and praxis.

· Family/primary caregiver training and education.

· Collaborates with teaching staff on an on-going basis to address classroom goals and needs for individual children.

· Other duties as assigned. Functional supervision of support staff.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES

· Provide screening, evaluation and treatment of children age’s birth to 8 years with a variety of developmental delays and disabilities to maximize their potential. Older children may be seen contractually through a school district.

· Complete require paperwork for third party payers and to document services provided.

· Responsible for services in preschool, home and other natural environments, on an outpatient basis and school district settings.

· Complete thorough documentation of evaluation, daily treatment notes and charger, progress notes and discharges in a timely and comprehensive manner.

· Work as an integral member of the transdisciplinary treatment team.

· Supervision of Level I and Level II Fieldwork students from local universities.

· Periodically plan and provide in-service presentations to preschool staff.

EDUCATION:

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school required.

EXPERIENCE:

· 2 years experience with evidence of success in the evaluation and treatment of young children with disabilities and/or developmental delays preferred.

· Experience providing aquatic therapy preferred.

· Proficiency in working with early intervention, early childhood and school age populations.
