Therapeutic Preschool and Medical Rehabilitation Facility seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist.

Job Overview:
Responsible for assessing and facilitating the communication abilities of children in the therapeutic preschool and outpatient therapy department. These communication abilities include speech, language, cognitive-communicative and swallowing disorders, speech and may also include alternative forms of communication such as sign language and/or augmentative communication. This position is an integral member of the transdisciplinary treatment team that includes: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, ABA and classroom team. As a member of this team, therapist will provide speech and language therapy evaluation and treatment services for individuals and groups in both the therapeutic preschool classroom and outpatient therapy environment. This includes co-treating with other disciplines when appropriate, conducting individual sessions and small groups and providing education to classroom staff and parents on a regular basis. Therapy service designed to facilitate each child’s skills may be delivered in individual and/or group sessions, as well as in the classroom environment. Other duties as assigned.
Primary Tasks & Duties:
- Provide screening, evaluation, and treatment of children age’s birth to 8 years with a variety of developmental delays and disabilities to maximize gross motor potential. Older children may be seen contractually through school district contracts.
- Complete required paperwork for third party payers and to document services provided.
- Responsible for services in preschool, home and other natural environments, and school district settings.
- Work as an integral member of a trans-disciplinary team.
- Complete thorough documentation of evaluation, daily treatment notes and charger, progress notes and discharges in a timely and comprehensive manner.
- Work as an integral member of the transdisciplinary treatment team.
- Supervision of Level I and Level II Fieldwork students from local universities.
- Periodically plan and provide in-service presentations to preschool staff.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school required.
Experience:
- 2 years experience with evidence of success in the evaluation and treatment of young children with disabilities and/or developmental delays preferred.
- Desire to work in a play based educational environment.
- Proficiency in working with early intervention, early childhood and school age populations.
Physical/Enviromental/Other
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Ability to work in a variety of home and community settings including the ability to ascend/descent stairs.
- Ability to work comfortably in a variety of positions including seated on the floor.
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds with weight ranging up to 60 or more pounds based upon children enrolled in services
Knowledge/Skills/Licensure/Certification:
Appropriate State license or license eligible. CCC or be eligible for CFY. Flexibility, good interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required. Able to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines. Able to work in partnership with parents and caregivers. Able to apply new skills/information to existing practices. Able to prioritize to meet deadlines. Able to consistently meet billable unit expectations. Able to complete required documentation within established timeframes. Able to work with families from a variety of ethnic, cultural, linguistics, social economic and religious backgrounds. CPR certification or eligible.
Routine Contacts:
Routine contacts include facility staff, physicians, patients, case managers, students, visitors, physician office staff, patient’s family members/support systems, insurance companies, employers, community organizations, and equipment/supply vendors.
This position shall have access only to patient or client Protected Health Information on a need-to-know basis (only that Protected Health Information that is required to perform the job duties described in this job description).
Tools & Equipment:
The tools & equipment required to perform the essential functions of this job include patient evaluation and treatment tools, computer equipment, and office equipment.
