Sydney's Story

On January 26, 2016, 25-year-old Sydney had an ischemic stroke that left her right side paralyzed and without the ability to eat, speak or swallow. She regained some function in her right arm and started to walk and talk again after inpatient therapy. But Sydney still needed more therapy to reach her goals. This is when she came to Ability KC.

With the help of speech, occupational, and physical therapy she is now able to speak, eat, and run. She has also returned to medical school. Today she is a second-year medical student at A.T. Still University. Sydney hopes to become a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist to help others with similar experiences as her own.
