How your support helps Ability KC

The Ryan Owenby Memorial Golf Tournament was created to fundraise for Ability KC with the goal of helping people to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams. Some programs that may receive more funding through this event include:

  • Mary Shaw Branton Therapeutic Preschool — Early education is important for every child. However, not every child has the same needs. Some kids need extra support to learn and grow. Our therapeutic preschool provides a welcoming, inclusive classroom where children with and without disabilities learn together. Therapies like speech and physical therapy are built into the school day. This helps children get the support they need without disrupting their education. Therapeutic preschool helps young children gain confidence, develop friendships and prepare for kindergarten. Thanks to events like this golf tournament, more children can get the support they need to thrive.
  • Employment programs — Many people with disabilities want to work but face barriers when trying to find a job. Ability KC’s employment programs provide job coaching, training and continual support. We work closely with the Missouri and Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation Offices to help people plan their careers and find jobs. Employment programs can play a significant role in helping people with disabilities gain independence and work toward major life goals.
  • Day rehabilitation — Our intensive day rehabilitation program is all about helping people recover. After a serious injury, illness or medical condition, people often need therapy to rebuild their strength and independence. Ability KC’s day rehabilitation program provides support tailored to each individual’s needs. We offer physical, occupational and speech therapy to help patients regain skills. A structured daily schedule helps individuals focus on their recovery. This program helps people return to work, school and everyday activities after facing life-changing health challenges.
  • Fitness & wellness program — Staying active is important for everyone. For people with disabilities, though, finding the right exercise program can be tough. Our fitness & wellness program offers personalized exercises tailored to the needs and capabilities of each participant. With your help, more people can access adaptive fitness programs that support their long-term health and well-being.
