Building Brighter Futures Capital Campaign

Help More People Improve Outcomes in KC

Ability KC’s new community-driven campus project (located at 715 Kirk Drive in downtown Kansas City) integrates and expands care, education, and research, accelerating access and innovation to improve outcomes for individuals and families living with critical illness, injury and disabilities across the region. One in three people will experience a disability in their lifetime – which means you or someone you know may need the services we provide.

There is no other organization like Ability KC in the region. As an independent nonprofit, our unique model of comprehensive, specialized outpatient rehabilitation and education services reduces rehospitalizations, improves clinical outcomes, and helps individuals integrate to school, work, and daily life more quickly and successfully.

Why This Campaign Matters

Expanding Access to Care and Education

Demand for our services continues to rise. The new campus will increase capacity by 20-30%, allowing us to welcome more children and adults into ALL programs that support mobility, communication, independence, and lifelong learning.

Investing in Innovation

The new integrated campus will expand access to cutting-edge therapies, education and technology, uniting medical care, research, and industry collaboration in one centralized location, to create a hub for innovation and further advancing rehabilitation outcomes.

Modernizing Our Facilities

Our spaces must evolve to match the needs and level of care we provide. Updated therapy environments, emerging assistive technology, and advanced rehabilitation equipment will ensure every individual receives the highest‑quality tools they need to thrive.

Strengthening Long‑Term Sustainability

This moment is about more than buildings. It’s about ensuring Ability KC remains a trusted, accessible resource for generations to come.

A Bold Commitment to Our Community and Region

We are advancing a $19.5M project, with $12M remaining to raise, to expand our capacity, modernize our facilities, and invest in the future of rehabilitation and education in Kansas City. Reaching this goal will allow us to serve more families, reduce waitlists, and create environments that support growth, healing, and independence.

The project was supported at close to a total of 44.5 million that includes the acquisition and renovations estimated. It is made possible through the support of financing and contributions of partners and supporters. An additional 12 million will be raised through a public campaign to support the innovation, education and research partnerships and overall equipment.
