Working closely with the Missouri Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Ability KC is a resource for individuals with disabilities that are looking for employment opportunities in the community. For those who have had a traumatic brain injury (TBI), Ability KC offers TBI Works to meet the needs of individuals seeking employment after a TBI. In some cases, on-site job coaching is provided. The employment services team at Ability KC ensures that a new employee’s transition into the work environment is smooth and results in added value.
Ability KC also offers a Summer Work Experience program in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. The six-week initiative provides a paid, competitive and integrated employment opportunity for students entering their senior year of high school. Participating students work 20 hours per week; four of those hours being spent in a classroom learning soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking. Ability KC currently works with 24 school districts to provide these services to local students.
